ROAM CREW
MEET JACK
I’m Jack, I was born and bred in Taranaki with a love for all things outdoors. I’m a qualified builder by trade and still have a small construction company. I’ve been adventuring around our beautiful country for the past 10+ years. I’m a big advocate for work/life balance (although I’m pretty terrible at it myself), adventure and exploration is my outlet, my way of resetting so to speak. Im constantly yearning for the next adventure, fishing spot, hike, mountain to climb or simply just a nice camp spot to call home for the night.
Im a natural sort of fix-it bloke, with a “there must be some way we can do/fix this” mindset. Ive been tinkering with vehicle outfitting for a long time now, whether that be building drawer sets and storage solutions for fellow local tradies right up to big “overland” builds for good friends. I know what works, what doesn’t and whats worth spending your hard earned money on.
All these years of my own adventures and mistakes, have given me a great appreciation for the value of quality, proven gear and equipment. That’s where the whole idea for Roam was born from.

MEET ELLIE
Hi, I’m Ellie, I was born and bred in Taranaki and love being outdoors and in nature.
Being from Taranaki I was brought up in the sea and on the mountain. Both my older brother and sister competed in skiing so it was only natural I followed suit, however at 7 I swapped skis for a snowboard and that was me, from then on I would be over at Ruapehu every weekend. I started competing end of the 90s and by the early 2000s I had made the New Zealand Junior Team. This amazing experience took me all over the world and on some pretty epic trips.
In 2010 I decided to retire and moved back home. From there I’ve worked a few different jobs but landing one at the port which I still do, driving a log loader and a high-stacker, loading logging ships.
I’ve really enjoyed learning about my truck and being able to get out there and use it for its designed purpose. This is how I met Jack, a like minded human who has so much knowledge and experience to share (I’m like that annoying little kid with a million questions) but it is how Roam has come to be, wanting to share knowledge, experiences and just enjoy getting out and seeing this beautiful country.
